On Thursday 26th February, 2015 Prayas Foundation had organized a workshop on legal aid against domestic violence. This workshop was conducted by Christine from MAJALIS. From the Poinsur and Bunderpakhadi community 73 women were present. Ms. Mishal Dabre and Sushila Pallicha were present for the program.
Christine gave us the information about law for women against domestic violence which was passed by government in 2005. Under these acts, the women suffering from domestic violence get security, maintain, compensation, custody of her children, her own things she is using and right to live in same house without harassment. She explained more about Domestic Violence that is not only physical torture but it can be mental or sexual also. Under these acts, women can file a complaint against only men. He may be her husband, father, son, brother or brother in law. By taking help of police and the legal aid centre, she also gave information how to file a complaint in police station like NC, FIR and DIR. She informed everyone about Zero FIR can be filed by a women or a girl at any police station close to the incident happen to her then she can take Xerox of it and police will take further investigation and filling her complaint to her own place of living. She also explained women’s basic rights.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, BMC had given award to Ms. Sushila Pallicha on 8th March 2015. They celebrated this program for inspirational women, recognizing their valuable contribution to the city and their outstanding work in a range of categories.
It aims to serve as a reminder of the glass ceiling that woman have had to break through over the years to change perceptions about what they can do challenging stereotypes and achieving in all areas of life both professionally and personally.
International Women’s Day is an occasion to take stock of progress made towards achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment. Although progress has been made, we are still a long way from achieving gender equality worldwide. Prayas Foundation had organized a women’s day program on 12th March 2015 at Our lady of Remedy School Hall. 80 women were present for this program. Fr. Desmond gave motivational speech to women. Every woman should take the training of self defense. SPI Bharti was the chief guest. She expressed that women have to come forward to against the violence. She explained different types of courts where they can file the cases. Ms. Mishal Dabre expressed that women have to come together for their development. Women’s empowerment as a transformational force for human rights, for economic growth, for sustainability .Ms. Luiza did comparing of the program. The event concluded by the cultural program. Ms. Sushilla gave her valuable support and guidance to success this event.
